There's nothing worse than the disappointment of a negative pregnancy test when you are trying to conceive. Many couples try to get pregnant for months before ever seeing that exciting "positive" line on the pregnancy test, but there are some major pitfalls you should avoid to help speed up your conception success. Here are the 10 most likely reasons that you aren't getting pregnant.

1. You're Not Having Enough Sex

If at first you don't succeed, try and try again. If you only have sex once a week, you are most likely missing your opportunity to get pregnant. Conception occurs during a narrow window of opportunity, which your doctor calls "ovulation". This is the magic day when your ovaries decide to release an egg that could possibly become your little bundle of joy. But you only have 24 to 36 hours after the egg is released to make sure it gets fertilized. So if this sounds like you, put down the computer and get busy.

2. You're Having Too Much Sex

If you are trying to conceive by having sex multiple times a day, you need to take a break. Having sex every other day is the optimal schedule for conception. This insures that you won't miss your window of opportunity when ovulation occurs, but you also salvage your sperm count by giving it 48 hours to replenish itself. If you have too much sex, you just won't have enough little soldiers left to do the job. Slow things down and get some sleep and you'll be pregnant before you know it!

3. You Dash To The Bathroom

This is the most common mistake women make when trying to get pregnant. Your first impulse after sex will be to run to the bathroom, but this is a major problem when you are trying to conceive. The best action plan for conception requires you to remain on your back for at least 20 minutes after sex so that those important little sperm can have as much time as they need to get to your egg. If you get up immediately after sex, gravity will work against you and your chances of conception will plummet.

4. You're Using Too Much Lubricant
