Potty training is one of the milestones in a little boy's life that is celebrated. Whether this is an easy task or not, is up for debate. However, the saying goes that it is more difficult to train a little boy then it is to train a little girl. Some do not believe it is true. Then again, there is a reason behind this. One Reason Boys are Harder to Train
For girls it is as easy as her learning the different between urination and bowel movements. All are done in one method, sitting down. Yet, for the little boy, not only does he have to determine which job he needs to do, but also has to start to learn so in the sitting position. Then to complicate things even more, he has to learn how to urinate standing up. This is one of the reasons that it can be more difficult for boys to learn the potty methods as opposed to girls.
One thing that tends to help with little boys is that boys get the concept of how they are supposed to "go potty" eventually. The majority of the time it is the mother that does most of the training, and the manner in which she goes to the bathroom is different from what he may see with his father. Thus, seeing that the father stands up to go to the potty is very helpful for the little boy to get into the right frame of mind.
Let Him Have Some Fun
Use food coloring to color the water blue, so that when he does pee in the toilet he knows that he did it, because the water will then turn green. This is something that is fun and exciting for your little boy, because he has a result for which he is looking forward.
Just Like We Must Crawl Before We Walk, He Must Sit Before He Stands
With boys, it is important not to rush them into standing up to pee. The idea of starting boys in doing both sitting down, enables him to realize where each job goes, in the potty. Then after that point, it is appropriate for them to learn to go while standing.
