You May Move Once, but Not Twice so Says Microsoft

Ok, Its that time of decade where big boss A.K.A (Microsoft) ships there new operating system, that the entire world will use. Starting now companies and IT admins are prepping for vistas release. The whole world will change the light bulb at the same time. And yet, I think this time will be a little different and here’s why.

Unlike Windows XP license Structure, Windows Vista’s will be enforced. Ok here is the deal. When you lease (Buy) Windows Vista you can install it on your machine one time.. Then if you happened to upgrade your hard drive (500GB SATA) change your video card, you will have to re-activate your copy of Vista online or over the phone.. The catch is you can only do this one time.. Yes 1 time so if you are going to make changes to your desktop in essence you must do them all at the same. Not one this month and something 6 months from now.

Here is the bread and butter of the license and notice the one time part.

"The first user of the software may reassign the license to another device one time. If you reassign the license, that other device becomes the 'licensed device.'"

So what do you do, keep Windows XP or not. For now I would say keep XP until either A: Microsoft comes to their senses, or
B: Someone comes up with a way around this. (I am not condoning hacking)

Remember earlier I said when you lease a copy of Windows Vista; well that is what you are doing, since you cannot install it where you want, and as many times as you want. To me that means you do not own the product, you are only renting an expensive piece of software, that has no resale value.

Wait till it goes on sale.
