Online Affairs First Begin with Online Frienships

Internet Friends - Should You Avoid Members of the Opposite Sex when You Are Involved?

Internet chat-rooms and message boards are a great place to socialize. You can find out some really interesting things (plus gossip) and you can communicate with some interesting people. But if you are in a committed relationship how much talking (internet talking) should you do with
members of the opposite sex (providing you are straight, of course).

Is it okay to start messaging a man on a daily basis when you are a married woman?

Before answering stop and think about the situation for a moment. Online affairs happen every day. Many real relationships are ruin because of online affairs.

First, you should think about what kind of messaging is being done. What are the topics being discussed? Are you sharing advice about a mutual hobby or job type thing? Are your topics beginning to get a bit more personal? Are you telling this person things you should be telling your husband or things you would never dare tell your husband?

Then you need to think about what time of the night is the chatting taking place. Research seems to suggest that online chatting late at night is a more personal type of chatting.

What else should you be doing while chatting? Should you be lying in bed with your husband? Is it that late at night? Is your chatting taking away quality time that you used to spend with your husband?

Maybe you don't ever intend on meeting this person. For this reason, you don't see why this relationship is a bad thing. The person makes you smile. Maybe he even says things that make you feel better about yourself.

If any of this sounds familiar maybe you should stop and think.

Can you answer yes to the following questions?

Do you wish your husband was more like your internet friend?
Do you ever compare the two of them?
Do you tell your internet friend your dreams?
Do you ever dream about your internet friend?

What about these questions.

Are you spending enough time with your husband?
Does he know about your internet friend or does he know how often you talk with him?

Could you have a problem?

Take it from me. I started what I thought was a friendship on-line but then the man who was married wanted more. I am married and only wanted a friendship. He started being nasty so I informed his wife. It was a bad scene all around and shows that I did get emotionally involved or otherwise I would not have cared how he treated me. We e-mailed each other over a year and I felt like I lost my best friend but all he really wanted was to have an affair.
