Government-Fostered Ownership

When the topic of government regulations and government-fostered monopolies comes up in conversation, mixed emotions from large numbers of people can arise. There are exceptional qualities of government regulation and there are very negative qualities, as well. I believe that with government fostering, people either love it or hate it. The American government has a certain kind of fear, if you will, over the idea of a nation revolting. I believe that this "fear" is one of the biggest reasons why government regulation takes place in our society in this day and age.

As the population grows along with economic problems, the social stability of a nation tends to falter. Governments realize this and in turn, they tend to try and control certain aspects of society, in order to keep the percentages of a revolt relatively low in a low-key manner. This low-key manner includes regulating a great deal of the media. Regulating what the public sees and hears is a very effective way of staying in control. Some censorship companies, such as the FDA and the FCC can limit the products that the public can purchase or sell. These agencies stand as a front for the control that the government can have over the people.

Not all people feel that these government regulations are necessarily terrible for a nation. Some people may say that the control that the government has can actually regulate stability in the nation. "A private firm that makes a serious blunder may go out of business. A
