A Review of the Cove of Lake Geneva in Wisconsin

When my family craves a quick weekend getaway, we make our escape from Chicago and head to the Cove of Lake Geneva. A delightful Wisconsin oasis, Lake Geneva attracts tourists, like us, from all over the Midwest. The Cove is the idyllic family resort

centrally located to Lake Geneva's beach, boats, restaurants and shops.

Situated across the street from the clean, tree lined, blue waters of Geneva Lake, the Cove is an all suites, condotel offering reasonably priced lakeside lodging in warmly decorated oversized rooms complete with kitchenettes, dining tables, breakfast bars, fireplaces and balconies.

The Cove resort boasts several different room layouts at an array of prices. When it's just my husband and I, we opt for the Anchor Suite which features a kitchen, bed and a living room with a pull out sofa. During peak season, the Anchor Suite is priced between $180 and $230. If we're traveling with our extended family, we double up and book a few of the Bella Loft Suites which include two bedrooms and two baths on two separate levels as well as a pull out sofa. These suites are priced at around $250. The Flagship Suite is another larger option available at a comparable price.

A comfortable nautical theme flows throughout the Cove with accents of turquoise and cream inside and outside of the resort. An indoor pool is large and refreshing and an oversized Jacuzzi provides warm relaxation. The outdoor pool at the Cove also features a hot tub as well as a children's play area, and live tropical tunes. Waitresses are available on most summer weekends to deliver frozen libations. And the Cove has DVD rentals, meeting and wedding facilities and a fitness room.

Adjacent to the Cove is the popular restaurant and bar, Houlihan's. Houlihan's offers friendly family dining and an array of great appetizers and adult cocktails. We usually stop in for an order of potato skins and a blended drink or two. A short scenic walk to downtown takes us to the local pizzeria. And let me tell you, there is nothing quite like a hot slice of cheesy pizza and a cold drink to enjoy while browsing the streets of this waterside village.
