I have extremely thick hair. Stylists remember me when I walk in, and I have had numerous stylists tell me my hair is the thickest hair they have ever been challenged with. Yep... no lie, my hair is challenging. They see me coming and they all run for the hills, because my hair can take an hour just to cut, and 2 hours to style.

However my hair is also gorgeous, thick, and full whenever I find the time to straighten it with my hot iron tool. The only drawback is that due to it being so thick, it also feels weighed down, and does not have any bounce to it.

I have tried using numerous styling curlers, and most of them worked well, where others would just frizz up my hair, and not actually curl or style. I though, have never been fond of curling irons because I get snarled, tangled, and burnt all to often when trying to string sections of hair into the stupid thing. Not to mention it could add another hour to my hair styling routine, which already takes an hour. 2 hours a day on hair is just ridiculous!

When I came across the Conair 1 ½" Hot Air Curling Combo at my local Target (or was it Walmart?) on sale for only $19.99, I went ahead and gave it a try. It looked like a hair tool that was easy to use, and best of all it featured a bristled attachment that would make it nearly impossible for my hair to tangle into it.

The Conair 1 ½" Hot Air Curling Combo also came with a smaller bristled brush. The brush attached to the curling tool seemed to be made of hard plastic. I wasn't sure how that attachment would work, because it seemed like something that would knot my hair up.

The Conair 1 ½" Hot Air Curling Combo has 3 settings. One low, high, and off button which is located on the Conair 1 ½" Hot Air Curling Combo's handle. A bad spot for it because when I used it I found I was flicking it off whenever I moved my hand around it.

My Use:

First I had to straighten my hair. There is no way in hell I could bring this device to my normal un-styled hair. It would of ended up snarled within my nest somewhere.

I decided to use the smaller bristle attachment, so I took off the one that was already on the Conair 1 ½" Hot Air Curling Combo, and I popped in the bristled brush.

Sounds like you have hair like one of my granddaughters. Even after thinning her hair she had so much it took three hours to style it for the prom. Then it wouldn't hold curls even with the hair spray. Very interesting and informative article.
