The President of the United States of America by basis of the U.S Constitution was given the right to issue out executive orders (also known as edicts, decrees, or even national security directives) to other executive officers to help direct modes of operation. The use of the executive order first came about during the first presidential administration which was the famed Washington Administration in the year of 1789.

Even though the U.S Congress must authorize war resolutions, there are times that wars have been fought by the use of the presidential executive order, for example during former U.S President Clinton's second term involving the United States of America within the Kosovo War between the Yugoslavians and Serbians.

Listed here are 10 executive orders in which I have selected from out of the past which help to define some of the domestic policies of some presidential administrations.

(1)During the Truman Administration, the Executive Order 9835 was created on March 21, 1947 directed to destroy the communist influence which was taking hold of numerous citizens in the United States of America. After the Allied victory over the Axis powers during World War II, although America did have communist supporters, communism was looked upon by some people in America as a threat to the ideas of freedom, democracy and capitalism. This led to a global war for ideological supremacy, a technological and arms race as well. So it was U.S President Truman's main goal to rally American public opinion behind his policies regarding the Cold War behind Executive Order 9835. Ultimately, since United States Democrats were being attacked for being submissive against communism, Democrat President Truman was hoping that this executive order would silence the American right wing critics. This order was also known as the "Loyalty Order" and was a prelude to the Second Red Scare to come, and the coming of controversial Wisconsin Senator Joseph McCarthy, a well - known communist and socialist hater.

Takeaways

Some Executive Orders help to define their times. Notice that during the Civil Rights Movement, there became numerous Executive Orders created to enforce minority involvement within employment nationwide.

This is a good lesson in American history. I just watched one of Jay Leno's "Jaywalking" sessions. Many Americans know so little about our own history.
