This beautiful angel ornament uses lace to create a beautiful and simple craft project that almost anyone could make. The lace is great for a country or even a shabby chic Christmas tree. You could also make an entire tree of angel ornaments. Don’t limit yourself to white lace only. Antique cream-colored lace would be beautiful you can also find almost any color of lace material at the fabric store. I have seen every color from purple to chartreuse.

To Make a Elegant Lace Angel Christmas Tree Ornament

Fabric – any material will do
Lace - white or ivory
Wire edged ribbon
Protractor
Styrofoam ball
Ribbons
Pearl strands
Gold/silver pipe cleaners or bands or miniature wired garland
Decorative scissors
Hot glue or fabric glue

The first step is to decide how large or small you want your lace angel ornament to be.

Lay your shiny fabric and lace out together. Cut out a circle using some pinking sheers. This circle needs to be about 8 inches wide.

Now, if you are trying to make a really large lace angel you can make this circle about 12 inches in diameter.

Place your circle of material over your circle of lace. Now, place a small lightweight ball in the center of both of your circles. THis can be a Styrofoam ball, a wad of leftover fabric, or even a cat toy. For your 8 inch sized angel this ball should only be about 1 inch in diameter. Go large for a larger angel ornament.

Now, Pull the material and lace taut around the ball that is the angel head. This is sort of like when you make those ghosts at Halloween out of lollie pops. Secure the lace and fabric with a piece of ribbon or floral wire.

Now, for the angel wings. You need to use a wired ribbon that is at least a 2 inches wide. You can buy these by the roll at any arts and craft store or fabric store.

Tie this ribbon so that the bow face the back of the angel. From the front it will look like wings.

When you are finished making the lace angel ornament you can loop your wire ornament hook through the knot at the center of the bow to hang it on your Christmas tree.

Pictures of this project would be helpful and give an idea of what the finished project will look like. Great idea! I would like for my senior citizen's to work on this for our Christmas Bazaar.
