Decorating Ideas for a Foyer

As a janitor operating on Amelia Island Plantation I have cleaned foyers in big high risers. I have seen the foyers in Carlton Dunes, Piper Dunes, and Beach Side. If you do not know those names I will just simple tell you they are million and billion dollar
homes. This allowed me to sample the foyers found in these buildings.

The first design I will talk about is plants. My opinion is fake plants look inadequate. They do not give that environment you get with real plants. If the foyer does not have much sunlight, then I suggest not getting plants. Some placements I suggest is having the bigger plants in corners and along walls, with the smaller flower plants on table tops.

Statues can be put in place of plants. Where the plants would have gone a statue now stands. Putting the bigger and taller statues along walls and in the corners. You could even get a collection of statues that go with one another.

Something to add in the foyer would be a rug. There are all kinds of rugs with all kinds of colors and patterns. At Piper Dunes a couple there purchased some grass rugs. They were dull and brown, but the thing about them was the scent. It was not their looks, but how they made the foyer smell.

Hanging pictures on walls make a great decoration. At Piper Dunes I got to see some beautiful paintings. The ones I remember the most where of the beach. Amelia Island Plantation is a Island that is on the North Atlantic Ocean. Having beach paintings and beach photographs fit the theme well.

A table goes well in foyers, but that depends on the amount of room. With a table you can place small plants or statues on it. It can also be used to place some lamps for additional lighting.

Books go well with tables. In one foyer at Piper Dunes an owner placed history books on a table. These where history books of the Amelia Island Plantation. If you rent out this foyer I think it would be interesting, for your renters to sit down and read some history on the place they are lodging.

Great inclusion of the suggestion for putting a Bible out, Christopher! I've even seen it in Bed & Breakfasts. No one is required to read it, but it's there for the wanting. Also, my hubbie and I were just talking about getting rid of our silkflowers! It's very "passe". We were talking about more sculptural items, pictures leaning on walls, etc. thanks!
