Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback Donovan McNabb is expected to miss the rest of this week's practices because of shoulder tendonitis. It is unclear how long the injury will
keep him out. Second-year player Kevin Kolb is taking snaps with the first team offense.

Two years after signing a free agent contract with the Cleveland Browns, center LeCharles Bentley passed a physical and will be able to practice with the team. Bentley tore his patellar tendon on the first day of training camp in 2006 and was unable to play that season and in 2007.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Chris Simms is seeking a trade or his outright release. The quarterback says his relationship with Coach Jon Gruden is irreparably broken. Simms, the former starter, ruptured his spleen in 2006 and spent the remainder of that season and most of 2007 on injured reserve.

The Atlanta Falcons signed cornerback Chevis Jackson and safety Thomas DeCoud to four-year contracts. Both players were drafted in the third round in April. The Falcons also cut tight end George Cooper. Cooper spent 2007 on the team's practice squad.

The New Orleans saints cut running back Jamaal Branch, receiver Carlton Brewster and defensive end Josh Cooper. Branch was signed at the end of 2006 as an un-drafted free agent and played in just one game. Brewster was signed by the team last season after spending time with the Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers and San Diego Chargers but not making any of their rosters. Cooper was signed by the team in 2006. He played in 18 games and recorded 1.5 sacks.

The San Francisco 49ers signed tackle Joe Toledo. The former 4th-round pick was cut by the Green Bay Packers on June 4; 4 months after they signed him. Prior to that, he spent two seasons with the Miami Dolphins. The 49ers also cut tackle Qasim Mitchell, who signed with the team in March.

The St. Louis Rams re-signed restricted free agent Oshiomogho Atogwe. The safety led the team in interceptions last season.

The Baltimore Ravens re-signed receiver Matt Willis, an exclusive rights free agent. He was signed as a rookie free agent last season and had one catch for 11 yards.
