Not quite sure what Global Warming is? Well a lot of people throw the term around. So here is what it means and what it could mean. Global Warming is simply the climate is changing all over the Earth. And it’s getting hotter all over.

Scientists think the earth is hotter than at anytime in the last 1,000 years. Humans are at least partly, probably mostly to blame for this. Emissions from cars, and industrial plants and many other sources are making the Earth hotter. They sit up there in the atmosphere and act like a big blanket, making the planet warmer.

Global Warming is changing weather, animals and plants. Some plants and animals not suited to higher temperatures will die out soon. We are also losing the polar ice caps and this effects weather by affecting the currents of the oceans. You can see a rather harsh possibility of what can be a result of this by watching the movie “The Day After Tomorrow’ http://www.thedayaftertomorrow.com which is a very good movie by the way.

The possible results of Global Warming are droughts, disease, floods, and extinction of plants and animals and people too if it gets too bad.

Man alone can’t be blamed for Global Warming, however. Scientists have found that climate change has been a way of life probably for as long as the Earth has been around. Changes in the Earth’s orbit can cause climate change. Changes in the tilt of the Earth too can affect climate. There are many natural causes of Global Warming.

And of course changes in the Sun its self can cause temperature changes. If the sun gets more intense and puts out more heat, of course the Earth will heat up. And if the sun puts out less it gets colder. In my uneducated opinion the sun is much more powerful than anything man can do.

Volcanoes can change the climate. They emit carbon dioxide and aerosols into the air. Carbon Dioxide has a warming effect on the Earth. But also if enough soot goes into the air, then it gets cold, because the sun can’t penetrate it. There have been crop failures in the past after major eruptions when the sun couldn’t get to the crops.
