DECORATING A FOYER

A foyer is one of the most important places of a home to pay attention to since that will be the first thing your guests see when they enter into your home. There are three rules of things that one should not do when decorating a hallway of a foyer, do not leave shoes on the ground, do not place big tables or chairs in the way and never use a rug that slides on the floor. Before beginning, it would be wise to decide on what color you wish the door or walls to be if you plan on painting fresh coats upon them. One should use soft colors for a door and look into their local paint store for the color options to paint their foyer in. To separate the foyer from other walls outside of the foyer some people use strips of wood as a divider. Either way, you should use painters tape where ever baseboards and crown molding meets the walls and should be careful not to drip paint. Wall panels can be used but can be a hassle placing onto a wall. If you wish to use panels please follow all directions before installing onto the wall as well as keeping the color of the furniture at mind. Wall paper is not advised since it may feel as if someone is walking into a bathroom rather than a home. Even so, it is most easier to use paint upon walls then placing up panels. Once this has been decided and completed, you can focus on the front door.
