CVS Extra Care Bucks: Get More Bang for Your Bucks

CVS extra care bucks are rebates that CVS offers to their customers to earn extra money off their purchases. To earn extra care bucks you must first sign up for an extra care card. This can be done at any CVS or online at www.cvs.com. If you want to begin earning CVS extra care bucks
immediately, I suggest signing up at the store. It can take up to 2-weeks to receive your card if you register online, according to the CVS website.

The CVS extra care bucks programs is designed to put money back into the shopper's pocket and bring in business to CVS. Extra care bucks (ECBs) can only be redeemed at CVS but are available immediately after the purchase.

Each month CVS issues a book that lists all the extra care bucks that can be earned. Most of their rebates run all month long but there are some that are on a weekly basis. Generally, CVS offers 4 to 5 items that are free after the extra care bucks rebates.

However, when combining CVS and manufacturer coupons to the extra care bucks deals you can often get other products free and actually make money on a purchase. CVS also allows the shopper to use one CVS coupon and one manufacturer coupon per item. This can be combined with the extra care bucks rewards and any mail in rebate that is available.

Here is one example of making money on a CVS purchase using the extra care bucks rebates. This example shows the customer earning a total of $6.83 by stacking a manufacturer coupon, extra care bucks, and a mail in rebate.

4.99 Tums Quik Paks
-2.25 manufacturer coupon (www.tums.com)
2.74 total to pay out of pocket
-4.99 Extra care bucks earned off your next purchase
-4.58 mail in rebate from manufacturer (I took out the cost of the stamp. The rebate is for $4.99)
-6.83 the total amount paid for Tums quik pak after rebates and coupons.

Now I will admit that getting a deal this good does not happen all the time and is a little bit of work.

CVS extra care bucks print out on the end of your receipt when you purchase the required items. They expire one month from the date they were earned. CVS extra care bucks cannot be replaced and can be damaged if exposed to heat.

I feel the same way about CVS' extra care as I do about Walgreen's rebates. Just give me the damn discount when I buy the product, not the next time, which is always after that coupon expires.

These savings programs really do pay off but, yes, you must be extra observant and be prepared to do a lot of coupon-clipping, savings-scouting, and receipt-copying to earn the rebates! But, it's all worth it!

Don't really shop at CVS unless I need to run out for something quick.. although they always seem to have good sales on makeup.

I don't shop at CVS because I think they are over priced, but your article has me thinking of giving them a try again.
