It's amazing some of the things modern technology can do - it's not just for entertainment and convenience. From security cameras to motion detectors, there is a wide array of technological inventions that aid in the everyday security of individuals. One such invention is a telephone voice changer.

A telephone voice changer does just what it's name suggests - it changes the voice of the person talking on the phone. There are many creeps in this world who like to prey on the vulnerable. If you're home alone, or you have teenager home alone, and they start receiving a number of wrong number or 'empty' calls, someone could be trying to find out who all is in the house - is there man around, or it is a young adult alone?

A telephone voice changer is the key here - you can activate it and turn the voice to that of an adult males, making it seem like your boyfriend/husband/father is home. This could be enough to scare someone off, or at least give them pause long enough to actually get someone to come over.

If you want to install a telephone voice changer and have it set up to use, the following steps will teach you how.

Items Needed:

Step 1: You'll need a telephone, obviously, as well as the voice changing unit. These can range in price from expensive to cheap - you shouldn't pay a lot of money for one, but an exceptionally cheap one will probably sound like a toy, so don't skimp on price either.

Your most likely to find the unit you want off the Internet. Brick House Security (online) offers a number of different telephone voice changers, ranging in price from $70 - $700. If you use a cordless phone, and you're okay with having a portable voice changer, you may want to look at the one designed for mobile phones, which is only $30. If you phone has a mini-jack, you can use this one instead, and store it in a drawer when not needed.
