A year ago, after a serious sunburn left me with not only second degree burns, but also scarring along my legs and neck, I became determined to not become one of the millions who get skin cancer. We all know that wearing long jeans and long sleeve shirts isn't the best choice one can make on a day when it's bright, sunny and incredibly hot due to the increased possibility of overheating and becoming dehydrated, but by using sunscreen you can still protect your skin and save it from sun damage.

Good sunscreens will protect your skin from UVA and UVB rays, will be PABA free, waterproof, lightweight and easy to apply. After much searching and locating sunscreens that only blocked UVA rays or only provided a total of 35 SPF protection, I finally stumbled upon the holy grail of sunscreens; Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock. Not only does it claim to protect the sun bather from UVA/UVB rays, but it's also PABA free, waterproof, sweatproof, won't clog your pores if you use it on your face and comes in 55, 70 and 85 SPF protection.

After purchasing the 85 SPF protection sunblock, I decided to test it out during my two hour run during the brightest part of the day. After applying, the first thing I immediately noticed was how I couldn't even tell that I had sunscreen on my face! The lotion was so lightweight that it didn't feel greasy or even make my face shiny like some sunscreens do. During my run, Neutrogena's claim that it was sweatproof and waterproof truly proved itself. Even though I was sweating profusely, and had even poured water over my head due to the heat, at no point did my eyes ever burn from runny sunscreen. The real test came later in the day. It can take a few hours to 48 hours for a sunburn to appear, but that day I did not develop a burn anywhere on my face, neck or ears and it stayed that way! With weeks of use under my belt, I've yet to get a sunburn or a breakout of acne on my face due to clogged pores.
