Man seems to either, with relish or great reserve, build buildings, roadways and
those things that carry man from place to place-on the ground, in the water or in the air.

Those buildings that were made with the most care, regardless of when, have become
international tourist destinations, and those with poor care, either ghost towns or places of dread.

The Problem

Road ways are made of asphalt, cobble stones, dirt and combinations of these and other
components. Buildings are made up of every known material man has available from
straw and tree fronds to steel and glass and everything in-between.

Depending on the governmental structure and attitude to one's surroundings, around the world, buildings and roadways are either kept up to look like they were built only yesterday, or are so ugly and in disrepair, occupants and passers by wonder why the things still stand or operate at all.

All man made things need to be maintained which includes having its appearance kept up. If our once enjoyed creations are left alone, soon, we cry in sadness as to what could have been and now we must learn to live with a mistreated creation. With just a little added care, so many buildings, roads, trains and airplanes could be fixed, improved and updated so that they work better, sound better, and bring value to the owners.
Significance of the Problem

While it is a fact that all things built need to be kept up and maintained and up-keep and
maintenance does cost money, most people forget to do the math. It is far more expensive to play catch up regarding fixing things and maintaining and bringing back the original appearance of anything.

Also, most people forget; while factually all things wear out and thus, lose economic value, as the item is maintained and fixed, its immediate value returns to like new, up many times the cost of the maintenance and repair!

Let's use some economic principles and examples.

Did You Know?
Tourism dollars will return when a community is safe and looks nice and has running water and sewage treatment. Any municipality lacking those
things is run by a non-caring dictator who is a fiscal fool.
