Yes, this is a real battle royal for anyone who has ever eaten turducken. I first saw turducken on the Food Network a few years ago. Since then it has quickly become one of the only foods to give the traditional Thanksgiving turkey dinner a run for its money. Although there is turkey in the turducken it is a completely different bird all together (your supposed to laugh here). Maybe the layer of turkey is what makes most Americans find the turducken a suitable replacement for the beloved roasted turkey they eat year after year. Maybe it is the bizarre and outlandish combination of three deboned birds. Personally, I think it is the awesome flavor and taste of the turducken that has won many American over.

For those of you who do not know, Turducken is a de-boned turkey stuffed with a de-boned duck. Inside is stuffed with a small de-boned chicken. Yes, folks, a little something for eveyrone! Traditionally The cavity of the chicken and the rest of the gaps between the three birds are filled with a highly seasoned breadcrumb mixture, stuffing, or sausage meat.

More involved turduckens can have a diifferent “stuffing” placed in between each bird.

A variation of the turducken is the chuckey. This is when the turkey is stuffed with a chicken and the chicken is stuffed with a small duckling. Chuckey is just not as hugely popular as the well known turduckn though.

Turducken is one of those American creations that probably soon be on par with the good old American apple pie. Turrducken seems to have orginated in the Souther States of North Aerica, which is very befitting. Some of the best food in the world is made in the South. Whiel both Texas and Louisana both claim the interesting Thanksgiving tradition originated in their state, neither one can prove their ownership beyond a reasonable doubt.

The higher fat content of the Turducken gives it an added flavor and richness that simply surpasses the traditional Thanksgiving turkey. No need to worry about dry turkey meat with the Turducken. So, score one for the Turducken.

This is hilarious! I spent the whole time reading the article thinking it just might be a joke. It gave us all a good laugh at our house just thinking of the other possibilities...Trocatass for fish..... Martunword for seafood , etc. Turducken still rules, but I'll keep thinking on it.

Really dug the turducken article, but the meal could actually be dated back as far as Ancient Rome! In one example Romans would take a hard-boiled egg, stuff it inside a nightingale, then a fish, then a chicken, then a duck, then a peacock, then a lamb, and finally inside an ox! There's several varations on the meal, the first time I heard of the Roman varation was on the History Channel.

Good article. I ended up with a fully cooked Logan's Farm turkey, but I do want to try the turducken someday.
