Sugar, as we generally use it in the form of "table sugar" can be harmful to our health. It can suppress the immune system, and of course we all know how dangerous Diabetes is to the human body. For info on how sugar can damage your health, see this excellent article, "76 Ways Sugar Can Ruin Your Health",
by Nancy Appleton, PhD, author of the book "Lick the Sugar Habit".

But doesn't almost everybody love sweet desserts? So I've created a number of sugar free recipes.

Recently, it's been found that most of sugar's substitutes like aspartame and Nutrasweet® can also exacerbate allergies, joint problems, digestive problems and immune deficiency diseases like MS and Lupus. In fact, it's now thought that the old fashioned, much-maligned saccharine in brands like Sweet n'Low® may be much safer than all the more new-fangled substitutes.

So I base my sugar free recipes on saccharine, the natural sweetener stevia, or using natural juices from fruits to replace the sugar measurements in a sugar free recipe for flavor.

Also, keep in mind that sugar free recipes may mean "no sugar added" - i.e., the ingredients may include natural sugar in a sugar free form like fruit juice, so a can of natural pineapple juice may still have sugar grams counted on it.

Here are my sugar free recipes for the fillings for two delicious, quick, no-bake cheesecakes! Ready-made graham cracker crusts will not be sugar free, but in small pie slices add negligible sugar.

PINEAPPLE GRAHAM-CRACKER NO-BAKE CHEESECAKE PIE

1 small ready-made graham cracker pie crust (or home-made, sugar free crust made with stevia or saccharine)
1 8 oz. Cream Cheese in a block (not pre-whipped). Low fat OK.
3/4 small size Cool Whip®
1 tbsp Sweet n' Low® (this tastes better than stevia in the filling)
1 small can pineapple chunks or bits in "natural" juice (not heavy syrup)
Optional: 1/3 cup graham cracker crumbs

Sheryl, I was directed here from another article you wrote about photographing food. I loved the photo tips in the other article and now I'll have to try these recipes. They look delicious and sound easy to adapt to other flavors, too. Thanks for sharing!
