THE MOVIE - Collier & Co.

Collier & Co. is the first truly must-see family film to come along in years. J. R. Collier (John Schneider) is a race car driver who tries to make a "real" living with his mechanic Billy (Rex Smith) after his wife Becky (Elly Castle) tells him to grow up, settle down, and get a job. She has filed for divorce, but Collier loves Becky and daughter Danny (Karis Schneider) and is willing to do what it takes to save his family. By racing for pink slips, his methods of procuring "previously loved vehicles" and reselling them may be a little on the shady side of used car sales, but cars are what he knows best. Winning a Ferrari with a mysterious package in it inadvertently puts him back in the eye of a rich man who had lost a lot of money on Collier when he refused to throw a race. In the style of the Dukes of Hazzard, car chases, explosions, sucker punches, and good-ol'-boy humor abound as Collier is off and racing from his enemies. The Dodge Charger "Traveler" driven by Collier is just a couple of painted numbers shy of the General Lee, and the high dollar "previously loved vehicles" in Collier & Co. will appeal to anyone with dreams of driving a million-dollar sports car in a street race. In the quest to make a family action movie, John Schneider accomplishes what other movie makers refuse to do these days - no foul language, no one gets killed in a gory display of bloody body parts, everybody who gets punched gets up again, and even the bad guys love their wives. Movie goers from seven to 70 will laugh at plain good, clean fun and cheer Traveler on as he jumps the ravine and speeds away.

"Collier & Co." is truly a family film. I was lucky enough to be able to see it in Memphis recently. The audience laughed and yeehaaed throughout the movie. John has outdone himself with this production. It is top quality. Call your local theater today and ask them to book "Collier & Co." in their theater. Take your entire family to see it. You won't be disappointed!

I love John Schneider! He has been my hero ever since I was six years old! Great article! I wish I could have grabbed him up for an interview! I met John in April of 2000 and have been dying to say hello in person again!

I love this: "J. R. Collier…is really Bo at 46, making his way the only way he knows how." Great article.

Nice snag grabbing old Bo for an interview. Looks like they're testing the movie on the faithful by the schedule you posted. Great article, April.
