It started with a phone call, or to be more precise, three or four phone calls. The conversation started something like this:

"How close are you to Dyersville, Iowa?" The answers varied, but right off the bat you need to know that without a car, Dyersville, Iowa, is a good ways from Dayton, Iowa. This would only matter to you, if you are, like I, obsessed with seeing the famous baseball field shown in the movie

Field of Dreams. I pictured it dozens of time, walking on the now famous field in Dyersville, Iowa, my microcassette playing, thrusting out my mic and cajoling people to say the famous line from the film, "Is this Heaven? No, this is Iowa."

Needless to say, there are no recordings on my trusty microcassette because I never made it to Dyersville, Iowa. However, I did make it to Dayton, Iowa which I stayed at for approximately four days at a Motel 6, this is my review.

When talking on the phone with the reservation agent at Motel 6, I was actually told to call back because their motel rates were going down that afternoon. The reservation agent I talked to in Dayton, Iowa was pleasant, helpful and personable and after making other phone calls to Cedar Rapids and Waterloo, Iowa, and considering making one to Des Moines, Iowa, it was this person whom I had talk to in Dayton, Iowa which made me decide to book a room there, even though going would make visiting Field of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa nearly impossible.

The second thing you need to know about my visit to Dayton, Iowa and stay at Motel 6 is that I was given some information, by the personable young woman I talked to, which had me wandering around downtown Dayton for nearly two hours. I arrived in Dayton, Iowa on a late Sunday afternoon intending to take a bus to Motel 6. Dayton, Iowa busses although are cheap, only 75 cents, I had no idea that they do not run on Sundays. I wish I knew this piece of information because I could of held off coming to Dayton, Iowa for another day and saved myself about $17.00 dollars on a cab fare.
