MLB Player Cheering Section Ideas: Thome, Bruce, Jon Lester & More
There's nothing like a good baseball cheering section. Cheering sections in MLB are no longer apparent at many stadiums. MLB fans need to step up their game and bring back cheering sections. In many other countries professional sports teams have better gollowing than American teams. In Japan there are "oendan's". "Each Japanese team has an oendan -- a highly organized cheering block that is part regulars who travel with the team and part local fans who bring out their bass drums when their team comes to town." In England and several other countries most soccer teams have "hooligan firms". Now I am not suggesting violence as many of the "firms" tend to engage in, just some added companionship between fans for certain teams and more importantly individual players. Without further ado I give you my picks for player cheering sections.
Jay Bruce, OF- Cincinnati Reds
"Bruce Moose", "The Bruce Caboose"
Outfit Suggestions: For either of these suggestions fans have to get very creative. Fake moose antlers should be fairly easy to come across and or make. Train whistles and red outfits may just work for "The Bruce Caboose"
Jon Lester, LHP- Boston Red Sox
"Lester's Jesters", "Lester's Investors"
Outfit Suggestions: These are two of the best cheering section names possible. Jester hats are easy to come by and fun to wear. "Lesters Investors" is so dumb it's brilliant! Suits, calculators, and so on.
Tim Lincecum, RHP- San Fransisco Giants
"Lincecum's Bums"
Outfit Suggestions: This rising star deserves his own cheering section on days he pitches. Members of the "Lincecum Bums" could wear those weird fake naked butts, or dress as bums with tattered and dirty clothes.
Lastings Milledge, OF- Washington Nationals
"The Milledge Village"
Outfit Suggestions: This could go several ways. Fans dressed as members of the Village People would be perfect. Another option would be to dress as the creatures in M. Night Shamalans "The Village"
Nate Mclouth, OF- Pittsburgh Pirates
"Mclouth South"
Outfit Suggestions: Cowboy boots, big hats, and as many "Yahoooooo's" as you could possibly imagine.
