When living in the city it isn't always possible to see the stars. The stars that you do so aren't that bright and there aren't usually enough to make out the constellation that they belong to. If you live in a city the chances are that even if you did make the drive out to the country where you can see the stars, that they are such a rare site for you that you probably wouldn't be able to name the constellations anyways. Even city school programs these days are lacking in their astronomy classes and programs so a lot of us don't know how the sun - the biggest sat- affects the earth's tides, weather and even how we look as human beings.

If you are looking for something to do this summer and you would like to look at the stars, the Santa Rosa Junior College's planetarium is the right place for you. It is open various evenings all year round and offers different programs at different times of these years. These programs range from being able to spot and name the various constellations, all about the sun, how to spot the other planets along with various information about those planets and so on. Each showing costs 5 dollars per person and only 3 dollars for students. You can be a student anywhere for this discount to apply for the discounted ticket as long as you have your student id.

The Santa Rosa Junior College's planetarium is a decent sized planetarium rivaling that of the local museum and being the second largest planetarium owned by a junior college in the state of California. It can seat 95 people and the dome on the top of the planetarium is 40 feet in diameter and 27 feet high at is highest point. The planetarium also has the most up to date equipment and is most proud of their star projection system which has immense clarity and detail so that you really do feel like you are outside looking at the stars.
