Anybody who visits a state fair will see some incredible treats. Every year, people state fairs are trying to outdo previous years by coming up with the odd new food that nobody would've ever thought to make. Some of these weird new foods include deep-fried Oreos or candy bars. These days, a lot of foods at the state fairs are new and odd items, but one day they could be very popular worldwide. After all, some of the greatest foods in our country's history originated at state fairs. These are some of the popular foods that all originated at state fairs.

Cotton Candy - Who would actually think to sell an item that is nothing but sugar with some food coloring? William Morrison and John C. Wharton, that's who. In 1904 Morrison and Wharton introduced the world to cotton candy at the St. Louis World's Fair. At the time they called it Fairy Floss.

Cracker Jacks - The first version of what we now know as Cracker Jacks was a combination of popcorn, molasses and peanuts. It was created by Frederick William Rueckheim and was originally called "Candied Popcorn and Peanuts." Not an original name, but it was accurate. It was first debuted to the world at the Chicago's World Fair in 1893.

Dr. Pepper - Some say Dr. Pepper was the first carbonated drink created. That actually isn't true but Dr. Pepper does outdate both Coca-Cola and Pepsi. On December 1st, 1885 Dr. Pepper was served for the first time. The location of this momentous occasion was at the Saint Louis World's Fair.

Hamburgers - Hamburgers are possibly the most popular food in our country and it is all thanks to the state fair. In 1885 Charlie Nagreen was making meatballs at the Seymour Fair. Nagreen decided that he would flatten a meatball and put it in between two slices of bread so that it would be easy to carry. The hamburger was born.

Hot dogs - That's right even the famous hot dog was first introduce at a state fair, or at least that's what they claim. With something as old as the hot dog and with ingredients that were available to many people it is hard to know for sure who actually made the first hot dog. But one claim is that the first hot dog was introduced at the Chicago World's Fair in 1893.
