Tapestries are a great way to brighten up any room in your house. No matter what size, color, or shape, they can fit in any room with any theme if you place them in the right spot. It takes a careful eye and a little time to correctly place tapestries. Here are some tips:

Use natural lighting

The biggest mistake people make when hanging tapestries is by using indoor lighting to illuminate tapestries or to try to draw attention to them by focusing harsh light on them. Usually installing lights is strictly for pictures, and it should stay that way. Try to use natural lighting from windows or from sun roofs. This will help brighten up the room even more, as well as drawing out the detail and color of the tapestry without blowing out the color or bringing unneeded attention and focus to the tapestry. Additionally, the sun can cause the tapestry to look different during different times of the day. Since light in the morning tends to be cool and in the afternoon tends to be warm, it can bring change to the room naturally.

Placement

Place the tapestry on an open space on the wall away from any other wall hangings or other room decorations. Measure the tapestry and the wall space you have available and compare the two. As a very important rule of thumb, make sure the wall it at least four inches larger that the dimensions of the tapestry itself in both length and height. This will allow the color of the wall to help accent the tapestry, as well as allowing other art pieces or features of the room to appropriately stand out without any problems.

Prevent Clutter

If there are already wall hangings in the room, then place the tapestry somewhere else. Tapestries are a great way to bring out clutter and art in a room, but going overboard can make a room look very cluttery, as well as messy and tacky. Since tapestries tend to be colorful, use it to accent the room itself or to use it as the main piece in the room. This will make a room look sharp, neat, and beautiful. Also, make sure that all the pieces work well together. Make sure colors aren't too opposite and that there is a color and theme flow within the room.
