Camp Eunice in Roberta, Georgia: Ministering to Children and Teens Since 1975

A Feature Article on a Small Place Where God Shows Up Big

Situated on over fifty acres of wooded land in Roberta, Georgia, Camp Eunice has been ministering to children and teens of all ages since 1975. Every summer, church youth groups spanning Alabama, Georgia, Missippi and many other southern states flock to Camp Eunice for
a week of fun and Scriptural learning. From recreational games and swimming to Bible classes, chapel services and devotion classes, the camp has been ministering to people's lives and spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ with unwavering diligence.

Pastor Jon Aulds was named the senior pastor of Friendship Congregational Christian Church (FCCC) in Baxley, GA in 1965. FCCC was part of a larger network of churches throughout Georgia that met twice a year. Due to the cessation of their youth camping program, Pastor Aulds sought to establish his own summer camp ministry for the growing number of youth their church had gained. His own experience with camps in Louisiana and Kansas would greatly contribute to his knowledge of building such a ministry.

After receiving permission from the South Georgia Association of Congregational Christian Churches, Pastor Aulds and several members rented Mount Bethel Camp, located in Ashburn, GA. From 1966-1973, children of every age met here during the summer for a one week Bible camp and were taught by three pastors who were close friends of Pastor Aulds and his wife. Volunteers from over ten churches throughout Southern and Middle Georgia aided the Aulds in their endeavor. Due to the large amount of success experienced by the camp over several years, Pastor Aulds decided he desperately needed his own land on which to construct a larger ministry.
