The day after Thanksgiving is the opening day of the holiday season.  Traditionally sales on this day send a message to the financial markets at large of the state of consumer confidence and projections for holiday sales.  In retail this day, some call Black Friday is the test balloon of the most important time of the year as it signals the overall health of retail. The hype surrounding this day is promoted and marketed by all retail merchandisers.  Store open at the pre-dawn hours and promotional items as well as incentives for shoppers including free gifts abound on this day.

Wal-Mart as some may know has had some recent lackluster sales due to internal renovations and other make-overs that may have effected their bottom line.  In answer to this slight down turn, Wal-Mart has announced across the board huge savings in the area of electronics.  Electronic items are estimated at about 25 percent of all holiday sales.  The Panasonic HD 42 inch television will be reduced $500.  Their normal low price of $1794 will be drastically reduced to $1294.  Other, HD televisions will be further reduced by at least $100 to $300.  There are going to be some great toy prices.  The best thing about the store is you will probably not have to sit outside waiting because the store is open 24 hours.  Stick to your list, but keep your eye out for some really great buys.
