California Red's Cafe in Yuba City, California: Review

My husband and I were recently looking for a new restaurant to try for lunch when we settled for California Red's Café in Yuba City. It is located at 815 Plumas Street, Yuba City. California Red's Café is open every day from 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. California Red's Café in Yuba City provides freshly cooked American food such as biscuits and gravy for breakfast, sandwich and soup for lunch and meatloaf for dinner.

The inside décor is very sport-oriented, but tastefully decorated. As soon as we entered the café we were warmly greeted and led towards the back of the restaurant to a booth table. Within moments of being seated, our waitress, Jessica, arrived and took our drinks order. After looking all through the lunch menu and not finding a single vegetarian meal, I opted for a turkey sandwich along with a bowl of beef and barley soup for $7.99, while my husband chose a BLT sandwich with fries and a side salad. His meal came to $9.48.

My husband's side salad came out first and then the rest of our meals were brought out. I was surprised to see how much food was piled onto both of our plates. The sandwiches were huge! My turkey sandwich contained a light dressing, lots of lettuce and turkey all on toasted white bread. I really liked the taste of the sandwich, but I knew I would not be able to finish the whole thing. The beef and barley soup tasted good and contained lots of vegetables as well as beef and barley. I let my husband try a bit and he said it tasted like it had come out of a can, but I did not agree. My husband liked the taste of his BLT sandwich and salad, but he was also unable to complete his lunch. We had to ask for two take away containers for our food.

Our waitress, Jessica, was very professional, cheerful and polite. She was attentive to all of our dining needs, but did not go overboard by stopping by every few minutes to ask a question or interrupt our meal, which was nice. She struck just the right balance.
