 Italy with his family's celebration of his son Luke's graduation, was pronounced dead shortly after collapsing at his NBC News Bureau in Washington, DC. Russert was 58 years old and had been among the many millions of Americans enthralled by the prospects of the 2008 election candidates; namely Barack Obama and Hilary Rodham Clinton. It is a shame that he would not witness the events as America moves on to a new direction this fall.

Russert's funeral arrangement has been made and is as follows: On Tuesday, June 17, 2008, a wake will be held at St Albans School in Washington, DC. It will be open to the public. According to the Washington Post, the public wake will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. eastern time in the Cafritz Refectory of the Albans School, which is between Wisconsin and Massachusetts avenues. Other private vigils are being held in the Washington and in Buffalo New York areas, where Russert grew up.

His funeral, which is closed to the public, will be held on Wednesday June 18, 2008 at 4 p.m. eastern. The funeral will take place at the Washington's Kennedy Center. It will be televised by MSNBC and will be available for broadcast by other media outlets later.

Washington, DC, news agencies will pay their homage by shutting down for the time when Russert's funeral takes place. The flags at the NBC Headquarters are at half staff.

If you are attending the public wake, you are asked to park at the garage of the Washington National Cathedral.
