A Candid Interview with the Owners of CelluliodAndVinyl.com

This past week I sat down with Amit and Dan of the entertainment blog CelluliodandVinyl.com for a little chat about blogging, music and American Idol.

Kim: How long has C&V been in existence? What prompted you to open your site?

Dan: Since Nov. 17th, 2005. An emptiness inside me that can only be fulfilled via
 blogging.

Amit: I owned an online urban camo-clothing store specifically for Dalmatians that went under with the dotcom bust. Even though www.where-da-dog-go-at.com failed, I still had a penchant for the web. So, I decided to blog about my non-canine passions: movies, music, and television.

Kim: How do you choose the other bloggers on your site? What kind of relationship do you have with them?

Dan: To blog for C&V we put our prospective writers through a process that's a lot like the training you see in the first half of "Full Metal Jacket." As far as "relationships" go, it's your run-of-the-mill master/slave dynamic.

Amit: I had to admit I was a steer and not the latter during my grueling interview process. Luckily, I've gained the others' respect, but only when I wear my horned hat.

Kim: Ever had a nasty falling out with one of the bloggers on your site?

Dan: Nope. There's usually a convenient "accident" to take care of things.

Amit: And then I do damage control for the parents. For example, "Mrs. Stevenson, your son's disappearance was probably due to a hate crime and/or bad Pad Thai."

Kim: Which celebrities or famous figures are your favorites to post about?

Dan: Star Jones.

Amit: Clint Howard.

Kim: What kind of perks come with having such a highly read blog?

Dan: Front of line passes at Universal Studios.

Amit: People know my first name.

Kim: Not too shabby! I know that C&V reports back from a lot of different music festivals and what not. What have been your best and worst experiences as these festivals? Any crazy stories to share with us?

Dan: Best experience: Blogging the 2006 Vegoose music festival....or maybe the last Bonnaroo. Those Superfly guys can sure throw a party. Crazy stories? Well, there was that time that some random guy ventured into our campsite at 6 in the morning and took our women.
