The midterm elections are upon us. And there are more seats in play than most pundits would have guessed possible only a few weeks ago. More and more people are beginning to see the neo-con agenda for the fraud on the people that it is. More of their leaders have fallen into scandal, and the American public (for the most part) doesn't trust them. Still, it will all come down to voter turnout. Voter irregularities have already been reported, and we can expect the right to try to cheat where they can. Florida (surprise) Texas, and Ohio (more surprise) have reports that indicate the early vote may be manipulated. So how do we overcome? Sheer numbers. That's where MoveOn.org and other organizations come in. With the "Call for Change" citizens who are concerned about what would happen if Bush was to retain his "rubber stamp" support from the current do-nothing Congressional leadership can reach out to others. MoveOn has made it easy. Organizers have calling lists, and groups get together for certain time frames and make calls to likely progressive voters. Couldn't be easier. I will be doing it on the weekend before election day, and on election day itself. Because to overwhelm the tricks, deceptions, and outright lies of the Rove machine will require the effort of thousands of volunteers.
So if you are just resting at home this weekend, and are looking for something to do that can really have a positive effect, I urge you to go to www.moveon.org and sign up for a session near you. Or if you can't do that, call your friends from home. Don't take anything for granted. It looks like Democratic majority in the house will happen. And the Senate is quite possible too. Let's take it down the home stretch, and begin to bring sense back to Washington
Takeaways
- MoveOn.org is taking the point in getting the progressive vote out.
- It's not too late to sign up!
