President Bush declared war on Iraq and sent thousands of troops to fight in a war that should never have happened. This war was created through lies and deceptions, of "weapons of mass destruction, biological and chemical warfare, and unfounded high level alerts", which lead the American public to believe that the war was justified. Today, after realizing the truth, and hearing about the inappropriate care given to the returning veterans, many American citizens are asking for the return of all troops.

In 2004, according to ABC News, the injured veterans from Iraq faced various problems when they returned home. These problems were financial difficulties, lack of adequate medical care, and poverty because of injuries that prevented them from working. Many veterans had to rely on charity so that relatives could visit at Walter Reed Hospital. While others, as Tyson Johnson III who was forced to pay for his medical care since his injuries, the loss of a kidney, had forced him out of the service in 2003, and he was unable to complete a 36 month term. Furthermore, t he amount for his medical care of $2,700 was listed on his credit report as an unpaid government loan. Due to the report by ABC news being released to the public, the Pentagon has stated that they would not charge Tyson Johnson one penny for his care and they were going to investigate other cases that ABC had taken to the military.

On February 19, 2008, proving that medical care was still inadequate, a blog was placed on the Veterans for Common Sense Website. This blog was from a solider's father stating that his son was sent to Fort Benning because of injuries, which included a fractured tibia and femur; while there, his son did not receive x-rays or any form of treatment, and the military made plans of shipping him off to Camp Taji in Iraq, even though he was not in the best of health.
