For kids that love outer space, aliens, and the thought of going to the moon, there are countless indoor lighting ideas that will quickly and easily make their bedrooms their favorite space in the house.

Glow in the Dark Stars

In lieu of a traditional night light, glow in the dark stars on the ceiling are tons of fun in a kid's room. Glow in the Dark Stars are available at retail stores like Wal-mart or Target and often are available in colors or with planets too. They are a fabulous and inexpensive alternative to keeping a light on all night long.

Sun and Moon Jars

If you grew up with mason jars than you and your kids will love the Sun and Moon jars! They look like regular mason jars except inside they have a solar cell, a rechargeable battery, and an LED lamp. You place the jar in direct sunlight and the solar cell "charges" the battery in a few hours. Then, at night, the stored energy powers the three LED lamps in the jar! The jar is frosted so it gives off either a sun glow or a cool moon glow! There are no visible on and off switches or controls, but a sensor inside automatically turns on the LEDs when it gets dark!

Moon in My Room

Kids love to look out the window and see the moon at night. Now, kids can have their very own Moon in My Room! The National Geographic Moon in My Room, available at retail stores like Target, has a built-in sensor which makes the moon light up when it gets dark. The moon mounts on the wall of a kid's room and features the 12 phases of the moon in true-to-life details. Now your child can enjoy the fascinating light show of the moon directly from his or her bed!

In addition, the mason jars are air tight so they can be used outside and in all weather conditions! This is another awesome alternative to a night light and one that can be taken camping too! Sun and Moon jars are available online at thinkgeek.com.
