A New Generation is Discovering the Joys of Owning Real Records

Remember when vinyl was king for decades then left for dead and buried by CDs? Vinyl is making a comeback. For whatever reason, the CD generation is buying vinyl LPs thus giving record companies a new means of gouging consumers. This summer, Capitol Records plans to release vinyl reissues of classic
s "Imagine" by John Lennon, "Band on the Run" by Paul McCartney and Wings and "Pet Sounds" by the Beach Boys. The cost: $25. That is double what these albums cost when they originally came out. The production cost of vinyl albums is pennies so the profit margin was always high especially on re-releases. This is all cream for record companies and artists. Greed and more greed. Foolish young 'uns will shell out that ridiculous price. People, these albums were mass produced in their day and there are so many of them floating around that the collector value is small particularly on 1970s releases. So shop around in real record stores and pick up a good used original copy for a lot less money. They can be found.
