Making a cookbook of collected recipes is a great way to keep all those loose recipes together in one place. By making your own cookbook, there are many ways that you can put together the recipes. Those that are lucky enough to have the generations of family recipes can make cookbooks for family members as a gift.

Items Needed for the Cookbook

Your loose collection of recipes. Gather all your loose recipes in a container if you haven't already.

Scrapbook or Other Binder. You will need either a scrapbook or binder to place the completed pages of recipes in once you have completed each page.

Paper. You will need either regular printing paper or scrapbook paper.

Printer Ink. You will need enough printer ink, both color and black, for this project. If you are going to type each recipe for a more professional looking cookbook, you will need the printer ink for this. Also, if you wish to use a scrapbook software, you will need to have plenty of color ink.

Pictures and other scrapbook embellishments. To add some flair to your cookbook, you can add family photos of the person who used the recipe. You can also add some scrapbook embellishments for each recipe.

Three hole punch. (Optional) You will need a three hole punch if you are using regular printing paper. The three hole punch will allow you to punch holes in the appropriate places in the pages to place in the binder.

Separators. (Optional) The separators will be used to separate each section of the cookbook. If you wish to decorate the separator pages, you will need to purchase the scrapbook embellishments for each section.

How to Make Your Cookbook

Gather all your recipes that you like to make. Put the recipes into groups in the same manner you would find in a cookbook.

Type each recipe into a word processor in the order you placed them. Make sure to note where the recipes came from. For instance, if you found a recipe on the internet, make note of the site on which you found it.

Make sure each recipe is on one word processor page. This will allow you to add the embellishments to each recipe before or after printing the recipes.

This would make a perfect gift for my step-dad's birthday! Thanks for sharing the idea.
