The Best Black Friday Sales in New York City

Known as “Black Friday” because it puts the retailers “in the black” profit-wise, the Friday after Thanksgiving is the second highest shopping day of the year, second only to the days before Christmas, and even then, not by much.

Most outfits choose to keep their Black Friday sales under wraps, so finding sales can be difficult. However, with a keen eye and a little too much time on your hands, you might be able to dig up a few up-and-coming discounts.

This Black Friday falls on November 24th, and for starters, K-Mart will be holding a 5-hour only sale starting at 6 AM and ending at 11 AM. Sales include 50% off Fisher-Price Read With Me DVD System (includes 1 DVD) and Craftsman 19.2V cordless drill. The 50% also includes Route 66 Women’s suede boots and Fireside Men’s and kids’ suede slippers.

The day following Black Friday, November 25th, K-Mart’s sale continues starting at 7 AM and ending at noon. Sale items include 70% off selected yarn sweaters, and 50% off children’s bikes and selected Christmas trees. Children’s Small Wonders newborns’ or Wonderkids infants’ or toddlers’ sets are Buy One Get One Free (of equal or lesser value), and both men’s casual shoes and women’s tailored ankle boots are $9.99.

OfficeMax’s Black Friday sale extends both Friday and Saturday, door opening at 5 AM. OfficeMax is offering one-time limited time only Free Shipping on any one order placed online at their website. They also have a variety of in-store sales, none of which require a mail-in-rebate. Sales on computers and electronics include $30 off selected Olympus digital cameras and Kodak megapixel digital cameras. Some of the biggest discounts include $80 off the price of office chairs, $200 off selected widescreen computer deals, and a free printer with the purchase of select HP Photosmart Megapixel digital cameras.
