Child Sexual Abuse Hysteria Takes Another Turn for the Worse

Child Sexual Abuse Hysteria has taken another turn for the worse. My Heart and prayers go out to the victims of this last horrible act of violence against children in Quarryville, Pennsylvania and those of Bailey, Colorado; and I do the only thing I can do to help the families of this tragedy by working to stop this insanity. Nothing justifies the actions of Charles Carl Roberts IV, but if we learn from this travesty and act rationally on it, then the deaths of these children will not be in vain. It is truly time that we wake up to the horrors we as a society have created and realize that it is things like this that are the end result of our misguided efforts to stop child sexual abuse.

Usually we call this sort of heinous act senseless violence, but this wasn’t senseless; it was brought on by the hype surrounding child sexual abuse, this plague of hysteria that is destroying lives and American families. Charles Carl Roberts IV clearly expressed the violent attitude our nation has toward persons who suffer from pedophilia, and he turned this hatred on himself and the very innocence such hatred purports to protect.

Charles Carl Roberts IV was a man haunted by the demonization of people who suffer from Pedophilic Tendencies. He had told his wife he molested young relatives about 20 years ago and that he was distraught about dreams he was having that involved molesting children again. Like the many people convicted of child sexual abuse Roberts wasn’t exclusively attracted to children, but like those convicted of child sexual abuse had he sought help he would have been painted as a monster as his life and the life of his family was ruined.

A week prior to this in Bailey, Colorado, Dian Morrison killed one of the six high school girls he’d taken hostage and molested, a crime which Roberts may have been copycatting. Here again we find a person who may have sought help if it weren’t for the prevalent harsh penalties and persecutions in our society.
