Billie Piper New Star of Secret Diary of a Call Girl

If you are a fan of the English television show Dr. Who, you will remember that Billie Piper plays the part of Rose Tyler. The 25 year old actress recently starred in the raunchy show "The Diary of a Call Girl." The program on the Showtime movie channel in the United States had over
949,000 viewers in it's first showing. How good was it? Well it broke Showtime's all time record for viewers for a series being shown the first time. They have even decided to show the second series of the show. Basically the show is about London female escort Belle Du Jour.

Billie is married to Lawrence Fox and is pregnant with her first child. Piper was born on September 22, 1982. She began her career as a pop singer in her teens. She married DJ, Chris Evans in 2001 but the two separated in 2006. He was 16 years older than her when they married. She played Rose Tyler the Doctors assistant from 2005 to 2006. In 2007, she was named to Broadcast Magazine as #6 in their list of the top 100 influential on screen performers. She was the highest ranking female on that list.

She got her first break in entertainment when she was named to appear in the Saturday morning kids show "Scratchy and Co." She was offered a record deal at the age of 15. She became the youngest to ever debut with a top single in the UK. Her first three singles were "Because we want to'""Girlfriend", and "Honey to the B". In 2003, she ended her pop career and returned to her true love, that of acting. In 2004, she appeared in the films "The Calcium Kid." and "Things to do before You are Thirty." Right before starting work on Dr. Who, she played in the horror movie Spirit Trap. It received poor reviews.

Piper has done voice overs for commercials on television. In early 2007, she made her first stage acting debut in Windsor. The play was call Treats and lasted from February till the end of May.

She married Fox on New Years eve of 2007. the couple lives in West Sussex.

Her autobiography "Growing Pains" brought her a six figure check from the publishing company of Hodder and Sloughton. It was released in the Fall of 2006. also in 2006, Gentleman's Quarterly named her the "Woman of the Year."

very, very cool! It's always nice to read a fan write up about a celeb and not have them candy coat it.

I love Billie Piper's work! Of course, I am a Dr. Who fan, so I guess that appreciation for her work stems from that show. She did some other PBS featured movies also. I want to say it was Jane Austin but I know that is the correct one... Pride and Prejudice maybe... Anyways, good to hear she just worked another another movie for Showtime and that she is still married. So sad after the first breakup - plus a little weird that on her wedding day to her current husband she met up with her ex. Good to hear things are going better for her now.
