Because of wide spread immorality among so many, even those who claim to hold a higher moral standard, unbelievers have a field day. In fact, unbelievers can't wait to watch Christians fail. Why? Because just like Satan, whom the Bible calls "the accuser of the brethren," they are ready to point the finger and say "SEE, SEE, SEE!!!" Yes, we see alright. We see the frailty of a human life plagued with sin. We see that, though some claim a higher standard of morality, sometimes they are the very ones struggling with the sin they condemn.

We've recently had to watch yet another minister admit he's sexually immoral. Ted Haggard, whom I've never even heard of, admitted to being a liar and deceiver for doing things that were "repulsive." What things? Since he's been very hard on homosexuals, I have no doubt his struggle is with homosexuality. I believe that's been one of the accusations.

The world watches on and laughs, especially unbelievers. One more time they get to judge Christianity (and God) by yet another sinner. What makes it "acceptable" to condemn a man like this is the arrogance, criticism, and judgmentalism he displayed against homosexuals and sinners, yet he's in there doing the same thing. Anytime someone who acts "holier than thou" and is found out, we cheer. "That'll teach him!"

Oh that we would all learn the way of love and humility. The issue or problem isn't sexual immorality. The issue is something even more hidden and sinister. Human pride, including spiritual pride, as displayed by this minister or any other, is the problem. By hiding our sins, weaknesses and temptations and condemning others for living their lives freely in these sins, we somehow think ourselves better.

Spiritual pride or self-righteousness lead to major hypocrisy. Yes, there is a spiritual morality that is a standard for those of faith, but none of us are above sin and failure. I personally feel sorry for this minister and others like him. Yes, they are "embarrassed and ashamed," for their behavior, but are they ashamed for their spiritual pride?

as an unbeliever I'm not sure I'm "just like Satan" but that's ok. I must admit I do take great pleasure in seeing the demise of someone so despicable as Haggart. And why is he despicable? Much more for the way he held himself up than what he actually did. I'm not without sin, but I have no problem "casting a stone" at someone like that...
