San Francisco is a great city that has magnificent views and virtually unlimited dining options. The City by the Bay is an ethnically diverse area with restaurants that serve a wide variety of food. The vast selection of cuisine is a direct reflection of the many cultural influences that can be found in San Francisco. One of the largest cultural influences can be found in North Beach, San Francisco's own Little Italy. The North Beach neighborhood is home to many Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, delis, pizza places, and gelato shops. However, Italian culture and food spread far beyond North Beach, and can be found throughout the city of San Francisco. As a result, San Francisco is home to some of the best pizza outside of New York and Chicago. If you like pizza, you have many great options to choose from while visiting San Francisco. Here is a sampling of some of my favorite pizza places in San Francisco:

Amici's East Coast Pizzeria serves East Coast-style pizza, as the name implies. Their pizza is served on a thin crust and is baked in wood-fired brick ovens. If you like a crisp crust on your pizza, Amici's East Coast Pizzeria is the place for you. Amici's pizza is delicious, but my favorite part is the crisp crust that comes out of that brick oven. Amici's has several locations, but recently opened a new one at 2200 Lombard Street in San Francisco.

Goat Hill Pizza has two locations in San Francisco. One is located at 300 Connecticut, at 18th Street, in the Potrero Hill neighborhood. The second location is in the SOMA, or South of Market, neighborhood at 715 Harrison, at 3rd Street. Both locations serve delicious pizza that is made with homemade pizza sauce and fresh ingredients. What makes Goat Hill Pizza special, however, is that it has a sourdough crust and is baked in a traditional brick oven. The sourdough crust makes this pizza a true local San Francisco product. Goat Hill Pizza is a very popular local pizza place in San Francisco.
