Bill Davis Racing in High Point, North Carolina
Race Shop Review
Bill Davis Racing was one of the sites that we had on our list of places to see when we traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina for a race. I have no problem admitting that I'm a fan of NASCAR driver Dave Blaney, despite the fact that he's never won aWe left Charlotte with our directions in hand, knowing that we were about an hour and twenty minutes from Bill Davis Racing. We made it to High Point where the race shop is located in about an hour and were impressed that we made such good time. Then our directions sent us downtown and around the entire city. After an hour of driving we skipped Bill Davis Racing and headed north to Kevin Harvick Inc and down to Richard Childress Racing. At RCR a woman was nice enough to give us directions back to Bill Davis Racing.
This time it only took 20 minutes or so to make it to the race shop, but we weren't sure where to go. Bill Davis Racing actually has buildings on both sides of the road. At first we turned into a small parking lot, but it looked like the building was closed off and the parking lot was full of reserved spots. We crossed back to the other side of the street where there was more parking and walked inside.
I have to say that if I worked in NASCAR, Bill Davis Racing is where I'd want to work. The environment is very friendly, much friendlier than some of the other race shops we visited. The woman working at the front desk was extremely helpful and nice to us. Another woman working there owned the same Elvis Presley wallet as I do and we had a short conversation about the King.
Instead of other race shops where you're kept back from the cars and workers, at Bill Davis Racing you actually become part of the action. We got to walk through the entire race shop and see everything up close and personal. They have small black lines leading through the race shop and all you have to do is stay inside the lines. We were only a few feet from Dave Blaney's cars and the workers.
