Christmas is one of the most festive times of the year. Miniature collectors love to embellish their dollhouses with mini decorations of all kinds. If you enjoy crafts, here are ideas for creating and selling popular Christmas holiday miniatures!

Research Full Size Decorations

You can get many ideas for Christmas holiday minis by looking at the offerings of websites and local stores. Books and magazines on home decorating are other great sources. One approach is to create a tiny version (1 inch to 1 foot scale) of popular full-sized holiday décor. Another is to gather ideas from traditional decorations and come up with your own unique version. You can make and offer a wide assortment of Christmas miniatures or specialize in one or two types that you especially like.

Personalized Holiday Minis

Miniatures personalized with names usually are popular. During the years I worked in a miniatures shop, personalized holiday minis were always big sellers. Depending on the miniature item and what it is made of, you may be able to personalize by hand lettering with fine felt pens or paint, decoupaging a printed name, embroidering, or other techniques. Holiday miniatures you might personalize include Christmas stockings, wrapped presents and toy boxes, and wrapped packages.

Miniature Ornaments

A pretty and unusual mini Christmas tress is the focal point of many dollhouses decorated for Christmas. You can make and sell ornaments or miniature Christmas trees totally decorated. Working mini tree lights are also available if you want to include them in your creations. Tree ornaments may be made from many materials including polymer clay, wood, paper, cloth, and beads. Experiment and come up with your own styles. Other related miniatures to consider making are Christmas tree skirts, tree top decorations, beaded or paper chain tree garlands.
