Results and Winners of the Daytime Emmys

The 35'th Annual Daytime Emmy awards attracted all the usual soap opera and talk show fans to gather at their TV's. These Daytime Emmys offered a few new items this year, with several new Daytime Emmy categories and new competitors. But as this
years Daytime Emmy results unfolded, some old favorites and networks came out on top. ABC, CBS, Guiding Light, One Live to Life, and big names like Ellen, Tyra and Rachel ended the night taking the biggest Daytime Emmy prizes.
Overall, ABC programming won 14 Daytime Emmy awards, with four entertainment awards. CBS had five entertainment Emmy awards. General Hospital won the best drama series award, along with the sixth best actor Emmy for star Anthony Geary. The Young and the Restless won two acting Emmys for lead actress Jeanne Cooper and supporting actor Kristoff St. John.
New Daytime Emmy categories included best legal/courtroom show, won by Christina's Court, best talk show/informative award, won by The Tyra Banks Show, and best talk show/entertainment, which Rachel Ray took in an upset. But Ellen DeGeneres still wound up a winner as she won her fourth Daytime Emmy for best talk show host.
Longtime icon Regis Philbin received the lifetime achievement award.
