The Secret Behind Perez Hilton's Success

What is the secret of success behind Perez Hilton - that "famous gossipista" as he was recently called on TMZ? Well, it's not really that big of a secret. If you want to be a smashing success in the gossip world, it's a major asset to have an extreme and in-your-face personality that will make people totally hate you or totally love you.

Whether you think Perez Hilton is a pig or whether you think he's "lovable" and that his antics “are all in good fun” (as his many fans seem to think), he certainly has achieved his fame and notoriety with the ability to highly amuse some people while, at the same time, horrifying others. 

Some people love how he writes little blurbs on the photos he publishes on his website while others despise him for it and for using photos without permission. Perez Hilton was in fact in a public argument with a photographer outside an Xbox 360 party at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery during the last week of October 2006. When the photographer began accusing him of stealing photos, Perez demanded to know how what he was doing is different than what any other blogger does, but the photographer seemed to turn into an angry parent who says 'I'm talking about you and I don't care what anybody else does.' Perez said that nobody told him to take it down "so shut the f - k up."

In addition to the photo swiping issue, Perez haters everywhere are always quick to point out that his real name is Mario Lavandeira , like that means something bad. Who really gives a shit what his real name is? Next up, he's gay. Perez HIlton makes no secret of his gayness, or for that matter, anybody else's. He has been widely criticized for calling people gay who really are gay before they are ready to tell anyone they are gay. Being gay isn't something that someone is supposed to be ashamed of in this day and age, nor should it ruin someone's career as long as their partners are consent and of legal age . So maybe his target could just say: "Yes, I am gay, but at least I'm not a rude asshole like Perez Hilton," or, if that's not the case, the person in question can say: "I'm not gay and Perez is a stupid asshole."
