By no means will 2006 go down as the best year in hip hop history, but there have been a few hot songs to come out this year. Some of the songs on my list are based on their lyrical content, while others are based on their production, while others are based on the fact that when you here this song you can't help but nod your head. So here is what I feel are the top ten hip hop songs for 2006.Starting with number ten I would say is We Fly High by Jim Jones off of his album Hustler's P.O.M.E. This song has been made popular by the New York Giants defense. When the defense makes a key defensive stop, they will jump up and act like they are taking a jump shot. This dance was made popular in the video for the song and Jones calls the dance the Fadeway. People are even doing the dance at some clubs when the song is being played.
The number nine song is Touch It by Busta Rhymes from The Big Bang album. After not having an album for several years, Touch It represented somewhat of a come back for Busta. This catchy song had everyone running to the dance floor when it came on. The song also has several remixes with artist such as DMX, Mary J. Blige, Missy Elliot, Lloyd Banks, Papoose, and Rah Digga.
The number eight song is Mr. Me Too by the Clipse off of their forthcoming album Hell Hath No Fury. The song was produced by the Neptunes and features Pharrell. After spending several years trying to get their record deal straight, Mr. Me Too reintroduces the Clipse to their audience and these two brothers from Virginia prove they still have the lyrical skills that their fans have been waiting for.
The number seven song is King Back by T.I. off of the album King. This song did not get as much airplay as some of the other songs off of King, but this song will definitely have you nodding your head and hyping you up once you hear its banging beat.
Number six is Hustlin by Rick Ross off of his debut album Port of Miami. This first single shows that Rick Ross could have a successful career in hip hop.
