Faith and Religion Shows and Movies You Can View Instantly On Netflix

Makes Roku Worth the Price

There are thousands of possible reasons why someone who already has a Netflix subscription would chunk over the very reasonable price of $99 for the Roku device that will allow you to watch the videos available for instant viewing right on your TV. One
genre that probably won't overstuff the average Netflix Roku owner's queue but could be the Bush...er, I mean the decider on whether you will want to get the Roku or not is the massive collection of videos that deal with faith and spirituality. Keeping in mind that I have not actually seen all of these, but am providing the service of letting you know they exist, here are a sampling of the more interesting choices that Netflix has made available to those who want to rent videos of a spiritual nature.

Ben-Hur.
As my controversial article on overrated movies showed, while I and others are incapable of sitting through this entire epic, others claim that this Charlton Heston bloated Biblical drama is actually worthy of its 11 Academy Awards.

The Gospel According to St. Matthew.
Widely regarded by many as the greatest movie ever made about Jesus (though I would place it behind The Last Temptation of Christ), this film is yet another reason to question just exactly why Pier Paolo Pasolini is not held in higher esteem than his Italian counterparts like Roberto Rossellini and Federico Fellini. Notable for the fact that though it adheres quite strictly to the actual Gospel of Matthew it still managed to come under fire, thereby proving that most of what the Catholic Church has preached about Jesus is not necessarily scripturally based.

10 Questions for the Dalai Lama.
This is actually more than just an interview, but a full scale documentary that shows the history of the current Dalai Lama and gives a glimpse into the conditions of Tibet that are at the heart of why so many people think it is beyond ridiculous that we invaded Iraq while we meanwhile continue doing business with China. The abuses of the government of China make what Saddam Hussein was doing in Iraq look like a kid playing with Legos and Tinker Toys.
