Is Religion the Same as Christianity?

The Christian life is not a religion. In fact, to call it that is actually confusing, because it makes us think of rules, protocols, and techniques; it brings up images of frequent ceremonies and customs.

Actually our Christian life should be much more than that - even more than religion:

It should be a Relationship with Jesus.

Remember Jesus when He met the rich young man. The man said that he had done all the things Jesus first asked about: following the Law and being a good Jew.

But Jesus asked him to get a step more - to prove his love and faith to God. This is what the young man could not do.

How does this resemble us today?

First the easy questions:

Do you go the Church?

Do you read the Bible?

Do you give money to the poor?

Do you fellowship with other Christians?

Now the hard questions:

Are you willing to give up precious time to friends?

Are you willing to give more money to the poor?

Will you stop gossiping completely and speak only good things?

Will you stop lying, even if it means damaging some relationships?

Will you attend a Bible study during the week?

Are you ready to allow the Bible to change your life?

Are you willing to let God lead you, even on mission trips?

Are you willing to join a ministry for the Lord?

Although these questions may convict you, they are important if you are to become a faith-based Christian.

Jesus said that if anyone truly loves Him, he or she must pick up his cross to follow Jesus.

It's daily commitment;

It's a way of life;

It's daily sacrifice.
