UFC: Undisputed Video Game Release Date Announced

After many people wondered if the UFC video game release date would ever be announced, some new information has surfaced through the UFC: Undisputed video game trailer.

The tentative release date for UFC: Undisputed is now listed as being Spring 2009, a move that upset a few people who were hoping for a UFC video game release date that was much earlier.

UFC: Undisputed features some dynamic new lighting techniques and extremely realistic character models, and thus far the game play in the new UFC video game is looking pretty good. Many fans were afraid that the nuances of the sport would not be translated faithfully but the release of the UFC: Undisputed video game trailer seems to have calmed some of those fears.

The trailer for UFC: Undisputed shows a fight between Forrest Griffin and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, which will take place July 5th in real life. The first UFC video game trailer release featured Chuck Liddell and Jackson but was more of a rendered movie than actual game play footage. The Griffin-Jackson bout is very well-animated and shows off a lot of technical moves that UFC fans have praised as looking realistic.

UFC: Undisputed was thought by some to have a release date sometime in 2008 but it appears as if the nuances of the UFC will need a lot of tweaking and work to figure out just how to make a UFC game work well. The problem with making a game such as UFC: Undisputed is that in the UFC an armbar or other submission can be pulled off in the blink of an eye and it can end the fight, or one blow can often stagger and opponent and cause a fight to be stopped in a TKO.

The UFC: Undisputed developers will be working hard up until the release date to make the video game as lifelike as well as fair to the players as possible so that the game play is balanced. UFC video games haven't been too impressive thus far but UFC: Undisputed might be the release that changes all of that.
