There are many decorating ideas that can give your house the feel of a country home. Even if you are currently living in an apartment in the city, you can transform your living space in no time. By decorating your home with a country theme, you will create an atmosphere of peaceful relaxation. In country homes, children and pets are always welcome.Baskets
One of the first things you can do to get that country farm house look is to add some baskets to your decor. You do not need to spend a lot of money on this purchase. Rummage sales and second hand stores are excellent places to find used baskets in good condition.
There are many things you can do with the baskets after you bring them home. If they are picnic style baskets with flat lids, you can stack them on top of one another in a corner of your home for a pleasing display. Other basket styles can be used to hold bouquets of flowers, holiday decorations, towels, etc.
Apples
Many country farm houses are decorated with apple themes. These things are plentiful at craft sales, thrift stores, and dollar stores. Even without trying very hard, you will be able to locate many apple themed items, such as throws, wall hangings, kitchen towels, and wooden decor.
Quilts
One of my favorite country home decorating ideas is to make use of quilts. This is a rather expensive purchase, but with a little creativity, you will be able to economize. It is not necessary to buy antique quilts to have the look of something old. Oftentimes, you can find used quilts at yard sales and consignment stores for less than twenty dollars. Of course, these quilts will not be in perfect condition. That's okay, just fold the quilt so that any tears or serious fading are hidden. You can drape a quilt over the back of your couch or at the foot of your bed. I have an armoire in my living room and I keep it open with a quilt draped over one door.
Rocking Chairs
Every country home needs at least one rocking chair. I recommend several placed throughout the house. If you have a front porch, buy several used ones and paint them white, then set them out on the porch for a real country feel.
