Bad fortune

In other places

Blown by winds

That never judge

Into the views

Many miles away.

To the North

Fields, forests

And homes

Are burning.

People are

Homeless.

Their conflagration

Has made a

Guitily beautiful

Sunrise.

Tragedy plus distance

Looks like beauty.

One of life's many

Confounding

Ironies.

Smoky Sunrise

A magnificent sunrise in the San Francisco Bay Area created by the smoke from serious fires to our north in Napa.

The sun rises way too early for me to see it during the summer. We've had some sunsets like those I remember in Tucson, and it is a red ball that sinks from view every evening from our vantage point on Potrero Hill.

A tragically beautiful natural phenomenon indeed. Aptly applied and versified, David! :o)

Mother nature can be so beautiful and yet so cruel at the same time.

Excellent work. These folks are in our prayers. The house behind us almost burnt down last month, so we can relate!

Excellent poem. I loved the way you depicted the beauty and the sadness at the same time. I hope you and your family are safe.
